TaliasVan & The Bright & Morning Star Band
TaliasVan is the musical name of Gabriel of Urantia, activist, author, and founder of Tucson's Food For Ascension Café all-organic locavore restaurant and Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage. CosmoPop is his unique style of spiritual vocal music he performs with his 9-piece band incorporating various genres such as mantra, jazz, rock, Celtic, world-fusion, country, classic, and more.
Music has been TaliasVan's passion since the age of 6 when he started singing with street corner harmony groups in Pittsburgh. He recorded and performed with various professional groups and in nightclubs throughout the 60's until 1970 when he had a spiritual awakening and devoted his musical talents to serving humanity. Soon after, he was led to Tucson and started "Son Light Ministries" at 630 N. 4th Avenue where he took in and cared for the homeless and disenfranchised. During that time, he performed as an opening artist for several famous Christian contemporary rock bands, such as Petra, Resurrection Band, and Servant.
Realizing his music did not fit the contemporary Christian category, TaliasVan pioneered "New Age Vocal" in Hollywood and was the first to put lyrics to new age style music in the 80's with his vinyl Unicorn Love album. As he continued to grow and expand in his activism and social, spiritual and environmental consciousness, TalilasVan was led to Sedona where he developed and cultivated CosmoPop, music of the future for minds of the future. Set against a background of eclectic melodies, CosmoPop's lyrics address the suffering of our times while giving hope for a better world to come.
TaliasVan's music reflects his life's work and journey (which led him back to Tucson in 2007) as a visionary; social, political and spiritual change agent; and cofounder of several nonprofit programs in service to humanity now operating in Tucson and Southern Arizona, such as the Personality Integration Rehabilitation Program, Homeless Is Not My Choice, Soulistic Medical Institute and Hospice, Global Family Legal Services, and the Youth-At-Risk Arts Initiative, to name a few. He is also the founder of the Global Change Music nonprofit record label and manages several bands, as well as his 45-voice Bright & Morning Star Choir & Orchestra; constantly challenging his students to write songs of meaning, truth, and hope that will inspire listeners to help change the world and themselves for the better.
TaliasVan's Bright & Morning Star Band complements his stylized vocals which express the height and depth of emotional experience, through lyrics that reveal the poetry and wisdom of one who has perpetually stood up for justice and righteousness. In the spirit of his vision for a world of peace, he began the SpiritualutionJustice to the People movement, a global spiritual-revolution of unity and love that continues to grow and inspire humanity towards global change. The Spiritualution banner has been in walks at Zuccotti Park in New York City, Washington, D.C. and many other Occupy sites across the U.S.
The August 14th concert is one of the fruits of the many seeds TaliasVan planted in Tucson in the 70's coming to harvest. Showtime is 7:30PM. Proceeds benefit the Personality Integration Rehabilitation Program and Avalon Gardens Internships.
To assist those in financial need, the Sea Of Glass offers an Avalon Gardens Hands-In-The-Soil work reciprocation voucher program where work and other forms of non-monetary reciprocation can be exchanged for vouchers for entertainment, classes, and food. Call 520-603-9932 to inquire.
