Delusions of Grandeur Release Party
Sitting in a Manhattan diner a little over a year ago, I had an epiphany that it was time to return to St. Louis and complete my life's work, a project years in the making.
I knew it would mean putting my career on hold and living on a fraction of what I was accustomed to, but I had no way of knowing it would mean becoming the target of smears from media rivals, several letter writing campaigns demanding my termination from the magazine, that I would be standing in the streets of Ferguson as the city erupted, or gathering tales during the surreal final days of Clementine's. And I certainly couldn't have predicted being questioned in a criminal investigation involving the city's most notorious and prolific conman, where apparently I was a prime suspect.
And now it's time to let you in on my investigations, where you'll take your seat in intimate corners to hear what I've heard.
You'll traipse through dens of inequity to see what I've seen.
And you'll be plagued by the same villain who plagued me for seven long years, following along as my life spirals out of control in San Francisco and New York.
Nobody's secrets are spared in this work, not even my own.
Please join me for the debut of Delusions of Grandeur, already praised by writers from The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis Magazine, The Bay Area Reporter, and Metrosource NYC, to name a few. We'll have the second floor of Brennan's in the elegant Central West End, and the limited VIP tickets include a reading, a signed copy, a photo with the author, a complimentary glass of Barefoot wine, hors d'oeuvres, and a chance to mingle with several of the book's colorful characters. Cash bar will also be available.
When all the controversy has passed I truly believe this book will be remembered for forever changing the way many see St. Louis.
