African Leaders Championing the Fight against HIV/AIDS
Globally, there are 33.3 million people living with HIV/AIDS; 22.5 of them are living in Sub-Saharan Africa.
30 years after the emergence of AIDS: Has the developed world forgotten about the epidemic or rather slipped into donor fatigue? What impact has the world economic crisis had on the global war on AIDS? Today, what strategies are working to combat new HIV infections? How are African leaders collaborating to institute Pan-African policies that work to increase education, access to treatment, and social services for impacted populations?
The World Affairs Council presents His Excellency Mr. Festus Gontebanye Mogae, former President of Botswana and current Chairman of the Champions for an HIV-Free Generation as part of the 2010-2011 Global Leadership Series and corresponding Africa Connected Series.
