A Benefit for the Brooks House
Two Shows for One Cause. Marx in Soho and Losing My Religion: Confessions of a New Age Refugee. All proceeds go to the families displaced by the Brooks House Fire.
Come see two shows that have won over the Pioneer Valley!
Howard Zinn's play, "Marx in Soho" portrays the return of Karl Marx. Embedded in some secular afterlife where intellectuals, artists, and radicals are sent, Marx (played by Jerry Levy) is given permission by the administrative committee to return to Soho London to have his say. But through a bureaucratic mixup, he winds up in SOHO in New York. From there the audience is given a rare glimpse of a Marx seldom talked about; Marx the man. The Play offers an entertaining and thorough introduction to a person who knows little about Marx's life, while also offering valuable insight to students of his ideas. Directed by Michael Fox Kennedy.

Losing My Religion: Confessions of a New Age Refugee, a one-man show written and performed by Seth Lepore, is a hysterical romp through America's spiritual enterprise. The show exposes the blurry line between self-help and faith. Yoga gurus, healthy chocolate peddlers and Buddhists with God complexes ego-trip their way toward absurdity.
Based on his own spiritual journey, which saw him leave the Catholic Church and meander through Buddhism and a host of other isms, the monologue juxtaposes wickedly funny and insightful characterizations with thoughtful commentary on his own spiritual seeking. Winner of the Boulder Fringe Encore Award. Directed by Thomas Griffin.
Tickets are $15-$50 sliding scale. All proceeds go to the families displaced by the Brooks House Fire.
