Jovelyn Richards' "A Woman, an Orchestra, and a Martini"
The Marsh presents Jovelyn Richards' "A Woman, an Orchestra, and a Martini (a nappy-headed love story,)" in which the granddaughter of a war veteran has a Martini, backed by an orchestra, and decides to tell the story of 26 colored men that went off to fight in WWII. She shares the impact war has in the southern communities of Pine Bluff, Little Rock, and Cotton Plant Arkansas, that will last for decades. This story is told through one family, the home of Mrs, D!, as the returning fathers, sons, brothers, and husbands come home in hope that the freedom they fought for overseas will grant them freedom as colored people on American soil. This is a nappy headed love story.
