Luc and the Lovingtons with Makepeace Brothers
Luc and the Lovingtons come to TwispWorks on Saturday, June 11 at 6pm for a SUMMER IS HERE and SCHOOL IS OUT! celebration that brings original Pop-World-Reggae with spices of Hip-Hop and Soul! The Lovingtons, a Seattle band with roots in the Methow, bring contagious energy and warmth, and the spirit of the days of Motown when singing about love, joy and happiness rang true. Their music is a powerhouse of vocal harmonies over a rich soul groove.
Luc Reynaud, born and raised in the Methow Valley, has spent the last 10 years of his life dedicated to music and social service, traveling from New Orleans were he created a music project with Children evacuees after Hurricane Katrina (Freedom Song) to Europe to Senegal, West Africa where he used music to teach Students English. Luc is driven by the fundamental belief that we all have endless capabilities as long as we do not limit or judge ourselves. He is a social worker, a teaching artist and a lover of humanity and the earth. He is joined by predominantly Methow Valley band members Loren Boley, Jake Shaw, Soleil Kelley and Felipe Canete from Chile. Each bring unreal talent to the mix!
The Makepeace Brothers open the night. Known for their timeless and infectious harmonies and breezy, "front-porch rifts" which inspire fans to sing and dance, the Makepeace Brothers thrill crowds worldwide.
Singing and playing music together for most of their lives, the brothers first began writing their own songs during a year-long motorhome tour of the US in the early 90's. This trip gave them direct contact with a wide range of American Roots music and the musicians who play it from bluegrass in North Carolina to Jazz in New Orleans. Their musical and cultural horizons were broadened further by exposure to African, Latin, and Celtic music at summer festivals, and as exchange students in Costa Rica, Brazil and England.
TwispWorks, located in downtown Twisp, Washington provides the perfect backdrop for the night, with the warehouse doors open, the late summer sun and air will only enhance the music and make you want to dance! You won't want to miss this line-up.
