Klezmer Brunch at Porto Franco

The gonifs are back! Big thanks to Veretski Pass for playing brunch last month. In May, Darren Johnston (trumpet) returns from touring Ethiopia with Porto Franco artist Meklit Hadero. Daniel Fabricant (bass) returns from the recording studio. Aaron Kierbel (drums) is back from his European tour with Rupa & the April Fishes, looking for a cool East Bay warehouse to live in. Jeanette Lewicki (accordion, Yiddish vocals, dramatic recitation) returns (briefly) to reality. Peter Jaques (clarinet) will be touring Southern California, so we'll have at least one very special guest for you: composer/clarinetist Sheldon Brown of the San Francisco Klezmer Experience, Brass Menazeri, & the Sheldon Brown Group. And it's a holiday weekend, so you can bring your out-of-town guests to check out the Mission's homegrown sliding scale Yiddish vegan klezmer music scene. As usual, we'll be singing & playing stories about love, rebellion, piracy & potatoes. The summer tour season is starting, so catch the gonifs while you can.
