A Tribute to Mario Lanza with Frank Tenaglia and the Munier Mandolin Orchestra
The Munier Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra in partnership with the State Lodge of Pennsylvania (Order Sons of Italy in America) presents a concert as part of the month-long, city-wide Ciao Philadelphia festival. During the first half of the program, the Munier Orchestra presents a wide range of popular, classical, and traditional Italian music. During the second set, renowned tenor Frank Tenaglia joins Munier for a tribute to the music of Mario Lanza.

According to Peter Nero, the director of the Philly Pops,"Frank has a pure and natural tenor voice. Along with a rare warmth and solid musicianship, he combines these attributes to become that unique performer whose artistry results in instant communication to his audience as evidenced by consistent standing ovations."

Reading Eagle Times describes Tenaglia's voice: "Here is an exquisite voice: warm, clear, consistent throughout its range, with transparency that allows every emotional nuance to emergeThe response to his performance was instant and deeply spontaneous and well-deserved. It is the loveliest I've heard in years."

For more than half a century, the Munier Mandolin and Guitar orchestra has contributed to the musical and cultural life of the greater Philadelphia area. The orchestra has fulfilled two primary functions:  serving as the primary exponent of mandolin music across the region, and helping to celebrate Philadelphia's vibrant Italian-American heritage.

The orchestra was created in 1957 when two smaller mandolin ensembles  one from South Philadelphia and the other from Northeast Philadelphia  merged under the baton of Dr. Joseph Tirrachia. Over the years Munier has maintained an active concert schedule, performing for a wide range of cultural and civic events within the Italian-American community. The orchestra has recorded four full-length albums, the most recent of which is the CD "Illumination."
