Improvisation: Director vs Director
Bionic Improv Theater and The Crew, the Bay Area's newest and most daring improv ensembles, announce the debut performance of their newest format, "Director vs. Director!". Shows play one weekend only, Friday and Saturday, July 13 & 14 at The Off-Market Theater in San Francisco. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Available at www.bionicimprov.com.
"Director vs. Director!" is a new, gladiator-style format in which the audience chooses two directors to compete in a battle to see who can please the audience the most. Each show features two one-on-one battles, culminating in a "mystery envelope" grand finale. Audience participation is guaranteed.
Producer Andrew Merit says, "This is an exciting new format. We're pushing the limits of where directed improv has gone before." In directed improv, each director is "responsible" for the quality of the scenes their actors improvise; an idea pioneered by Keith Johnstone and continued by The Crew â an ensemble formed through BATS Improv â the nation's largest purely improvisational theatre company.
The cast (listed alphabetically) is Chet Anderson, Channing Clarkson, Rich Cox, Wynne Hegarty, Kasey Klemm, Kathy Mello, Andrew Merit, and Joel Micucci.
Bionic Improv and The Crew were both founded in 2007.
