Cassatt Quartet w/ Joan Tower
The 13th annual midcoast-based Seal Bay Festival of American Chamber Music presents their first ever Portland concert featuring Manhattan's Cassatt Quartet playing works by John Corigliano and the festival's guest composer, Joan Tower. In a career that spans more than 50 years, Joan Tower has won multiple Grammy awards, been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, become the first woman to win the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for composition, and had her works commissioned and performed by major ensembles, soloists, and orchestras. Her tremendously popular, Fanfares for the Uncommon Woman has been played by over 500 different ensembles worldwide. She will join us for post-concert Q&A. Seal Bay Festival artistic director, Laura Kaminsky will present a pre-concert talk.
