Tallis Scholars Summer School - Opening Concert
The Tudor Choir and members of the world-renowned Tallis Scholars, directed by Peter Phillips and Doug Fullington, open the 2011 Tallis Scholars Summer School USA with program of English Renaissance polyphony by Thomas Tallis (c. 1505-1585) on Sunday July 24 at 8:00 PM, at St. James Cathedral, 804 Ninth Ave., Seattle.
The theme for this year's Tallis Scholars Summer School is English Renaissance music. The choir of twelve singers will include three members of the Tallis Scholars, who, with Peter Phillips, will serve as tutors during the week-long course. The purpose of the opening concert is to showcase Mr. Phillips and the tutors and to set the standard for singing that all course participants will work to achieve. The efforts of course participants will be featured in the course gala concert on Friday, July 29, also at St. James Cathedral.
ADMISSION Admission is by donation, with a suggested donation of $25. Advance passes, which include seating in a reserved section, are available here for $25.
