RoofTop Dance May 2011
RoofTop Dance is a self-sustaining summer series that offers pioneering artists in dance and movement-based forms a shared initiative for the development and performance of new works. RoofTop Dance introduces a framework for the development of community and dialogue by identifying, supporting and presenting our current generation of emerging and established artists.
Jordan Isadore, Sophie Maguire, Brandin Steffensen, Aynsley Vandenbroucke, Kate Martel and Tara Aisha Willis launch the 2011 series into motion. These brilliant and thoughtful choreographers create and perform original works as a reflection of how they've individually met the questions and discussions of the group process determined at the outset.
The works are performed as part of the performance/party event on an open-air stage built specifically for the expansive warehouse rooftop. After each performance, the event continues with a DJ'd dance party and refreshments to quench all tastes and thirsts.
RoofTop Dance is curated and produced by Benn Rasmussen, Anna Adams Stark, Raja Feather Kelly, Caitlin Marz and Edward Rice and is co-produced with Norte Maar. www.nortemaar.org
