H5O Bistro: Chef Nick Yanes' Wine and Sake-inspired Portland Food Adventure
H5O Bistro, at the Hotel Fifty, is not only special because it's got one of the coolest bars in Portland, and is situated right on the waterfront park, but it's got one of the most talented chefs creating some of the most creative cuisine in Portland. Executive Chef Nick Yanes was trained locally in Portland at the Western Culinary Institute, and then paid his dues as consulting chef at Coyote Ridge Country Club in Carrolton, Texas and chef de cuisine/pastry chef at Dallas Fish Market. Yanes also worked as a rounds man servicing all stations for Anthony Bombaci at Nana in Dallas. Now in his second year at H5O, Nick has settled back into Portland--living in the Pearl, and working downtown--and brings a very unique, sophisticated flair to his cuisine.
