Daria and Her Trio - Strawberry Fields Forever
Growing up in San Francisco, Daria was part of a uniquely creative family. Her mother spoke five languages, taught creative writing and is a published author. Her father was a first violinist with the San Francisco Symphony. Daria began to sing at six. In her teens she fell in love with Jazz. She went on to study with Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy and Brazilian musician, Celia Malheiros. Daria has 2 critically acclaimed CDs, "Just the Beginning", produced by Ian Dogole and "Feel The Rhythm", produced by Frank Martin and six-time Grammy Nominee, Wayne Wallace. The title track, "Feel The Rhythm", a beautiful Brazilian style song, received Honorable Mention at the Billboard World Music Competition. She is included in the book THE JAZZ SINGERS, "The top 521 jazz singers of all time", by Jazz critic, Scott Yanow. Daria has shared the stage and recorded with many notable musicians, including Ricki Lee Jones, Maria Muldaur, Dan Hicks, Joe Sample, Christian McBride, Lewis Nash, Harvie S, Bob Dorough, Dave Grisman, Tuck and Patti, Alex Acuna and Abe Laboriel. She has toured internationally with Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks as a vocalist, percussionist and melodica player since 2005. Daria has performed as a solo artist at clubs and festivals in the Bay area, L.A., NYC, Japan and Europe. Currently breaking new ground with 'The Off-White Album' - Songs by the Beatles, due out in 2015, with arrangements by bassist Sam Bevan, listeners will hear these famous songs with new insight.
