Sounds of the Soles of the Southwest
Tap dancers from across Arizona are gathering to celebrate National TAP Dance Day the weekend of May 21-22. Saturday's Sounds of the Soles of the SW performance, 7 pm, will open with the Original Wildcat Jass Band performing for the first time with tap dancers. Professional tap dance companies will include Phoenix' Tap 24.7, Tucson's Tap Attack (new company) and senior groups Coyote Country Cloggers (SaddleBrooke), Tap Sensation and Tucson Prunes. Five dance studios and a score of professional tappers join the roster. The Seven Pipers Scottish Society and flamenco dancers Melissa Aguirre and Barbara La Flamencista will represent the roots of tap dance.
