Comedy Returns to El Rio! A Kung Pao production (Mon, May 9 - 2nd Anniv Show!)
Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... The SECOND Anniversary Show of Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Every 2nd Monday of the month @ 8pm at El Rio.
The next show takes place on Monday, May 9th and features headliner Shazia Mirza (from London, tours all over Europe, has been profiled on 60 Minutes in The New York Times), Kurt Bodden, Natasha Muse, Reannie Roads, and Lisa Geduldig.
Shazia Mirza is a very funny, award-winning British Muslim stand up comedian of Pakistani descent from London. She works all over the world and has toured the US, Sweden, Denmark, France Holland, and Germany. She has been profiled on 60 Minutes and in The New York Times and has appeared on Last Comic Standing and Have I Got News for You (BBC). Shazia could have married a rich man and lived in a mansion with servants, bidets, and horses, but instead she chose to drive up and down the country for as little as ten pounds, staying in dirty lurid bed and breakfasts trying to make people laugh. www.shazia-mirza.com
Kurt Bodden has performed stand up for Harvard alumni and for loggers in Oregon. He's performed improv at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, hosted his own talk show at The Purple Onion, and MC'ed events including The Literary Death Match. Tonight's piece is a preview of a full-length solo show he will present at the San Francisco Fringe Festival this September.
Natasha Muse is pretty funny for a comedian. She started performing over 8 years ago as "Ginger" at AsiaSF. Over the past two years she has moved from lip-synching into stand up comedy, the second biggest transition in her life. Since that time she's begun to become to be known as the second funniest transsexual you know.
Reannie Roads is an unemployed elementary school teacher forced to do stand up comedy due to cutbacks in education. She sings gentle, non-threatening, intelligent, thoughtful, powerful, hysterical feminist toilet songs. Reannie entertains the masses with such hits as "Cellulite Dimple" and "Johnny Depp, a Love Song." She is a Women Who Kick Comedy Butt regular and the 2007 winner of The Last Woman Kicking. She wrote, produced, and starred in "Clockbusters," a sketch comedy show in the San Francisco Fringe Festival.
Lisa Geduldig is the creator, producer, & MC of a variety of annual comedy shows: Kung Pao Kosher Comedy; The George Bush Going Away Party; Funny Girlz; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar; The Color of Funny; Comedy Returns to El Rio; Cafe con Comedy; Charo...
