Louise Nevelson: Public and Private
Creativity: An Eternal Mystery
A monthly series sponsored by Ginger and Stuart Polisnor
Join Shirley Romaine, host of Cablevision's Artscene on Long Island, for these rare interviews with Louise Nevelson, considered by many to be the "Empress of Modern Art" the boldest, most original sculptor of the 20th Century. Her monumental works of wood, found objects and metal can be seen in parks, plazas and museums throughout the world. These interviews reveal her flamboyant lifestyle, her obsession with work and her creative process. Romaine interviewed Nevelson in 1984, three years before her death, and created this program, which is both live and on DVD. Adding to this intimate portrait of the artist is an interview with Laurie Lisle, Nevelson's biographer, and a reading of Nevelson's poetry by Ms. Romaine. "She was a self-made phenomenon whose powerful art and remarkable life made her a legend in her own time."ÃÂÃÂDon't miss this opportunity to get personal! "The Scupture of Louise Nevelson: Constructing a Legend" is currently on exhibit at the Jewish Museum in New York. It is the first major survey of the artist's work in a generation.
