Featuring Live Piano Score Composed and Performed by Ben Model
One of the seminal films in the gangster genre, director Josef von Sternberg's silent drama stars Clive Brook as âRolls Royce,â a down-and-out gentleman who becomes friends with bank robber âBullâ Weed (George Bancroft). Using his brains and Weed's muscle, Rolls Royce helps his pal become king of the city's crime syndicate, but things go afoul when Bullâs moll âFeathersâ (Evelyn Brent) starts taking an interest in the new recruit. Ben Hecht won an Academy Award for his screenplay.
USA, 1927, 80 min., b/w, silent
