Andrea McArdle
Seth Rudetsky's BROADWAY AT THE ARTHOUSE presents Andrea McArdle! Andrea McArdle originated the role of Annie on Broadway. She became the youngest performer ever to be nominated for a Tony Award as Best Lead Actress in a Musical. She also received the Theater World and Outer Critics' Circle Awards for her performance. She appeared several times on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson from 1977-79, including one occasion when she was accompanied by Liberace.
She played the role of July Garland in NBCâs telepic Rainbow but throughout her career she has concentrated primarily on performing in musical theater and cabarets. Her other Broadway credits include Les Misérables, Jerry's Girls (co-starring Carol Channing and Leslie Uggams), Starlight Express, State Fair and Belle in Beauty and the Beast.
Her CD, Andrea McArdle on Broadway, was arranged and produced by her husband, composer Ed Kalehoff , who also collaborated with her on an album of Christmas songs that was released in conjunction with her Family Christmas Show at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The couple has one daughter, Alexis Kalehoff, a performer who has appeared with her mother in Les Miz and most recently in Blood Brothers.
McArdle returned to Annie at Musical TheatreWest in Long Beach, California, as Miss Hannigan this past fall. She received critical acclaim this past March as Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers at Theatre Zone in Naple, Florida.
