KOKORO to KOKORO featuring Motema Recording Artists
A Multi-Cultural Family Oriented Mother's Day Concert honoring the spirit of motherhood worldwide and especially honoring mothers in North Eastern Japan facing life challenges caused by the earthquake and tsunami. All Proceeds will go towards the Tenrikyo Disaster Relief Fund.

Kokoro means 'Heart' in Japanese and Motéma means 'heart' in the African language of Lingala.  The goal of KOKORO to KOKORO, is not only to raise funds, but also to send an artistic message of hope and emotional support to mothers and all the people of Northern Japan who have been struck by this disaster.

KOKORO to KOKORO will take place at the Tenri Cultural Institute and feature Motema recording artists Tomoko Sugawara, Patrick Stanfield Jones, Oran Etkin and Jana Herzen plus special guests, Ellen Weiss and Barry Weisenfeld. This acoustic performance will include traditional and contemporary music with Japanese, Native American, Celtic, African, European and American roots. Plus there will be a special "Timbalooloo" children's jazz presentation by Oran Etkin whose CD "Wake Up Clarinet" has won four national awards as an outstanding children's music CD of 2010.   The performance will be from 3pm to 5:30, a perfect prelude to Mother's day dinner in New York City!
