Count Zero CD Release Party featuring Cathode Rays & The Ward Eights
Friday 5/13 - COUNT ZERO - CD RELEASE!!! with special guests CATHODE RAYS and WARD EIGHTS $10 advance and $10 at the door 8:30 doors / 9:15 show www.count-zero.com
Count Zero celebrate the release of their fourth full-length CD 'Never Be Yourself" at The Lizard Lounge on Friday May 13th. As Jim Sullivan of the Boston Globe attests, Count Zero affords "a unique listening experience known for grabbing even the most jaded ears."
Seven years is a long time to wait for a CD, but Count Zero front man Peter Moore has been busy in the meantime, among other pursuits- releasing a solo record, producing other artists, and touring the world as lead vocalist with the Blue Man Group on their Megastar tour. But 'Never Be Yourself' proves that this committed artist is still meticulously "weaving Count Zero tracks like a Persian rug." (Ted Drozdowski, The Boston Phoenix) Which perhaps explains the enduring popularity of Count Zero's music in videogames such as "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band," two songs of which ("Radium Eyes" and "Shake") are included on the new release.
Bursting open the night is the 8-bit, "chiptune" rock of Cathode Rays, perhaps the only band in Boston who could safely tout having a front man whose primary instrument is a Nintendo controller. Party-funk band The Ward Eights will bestow the evening with the ceremoniously appropriate celebratory booty shake. And we have it on good word that the legendary "Lizard Queen" Jim Morrissey, freshly transplanted from Manchester, England, will treat attendees with a rare performance.
