Dancing with the Dentists, Season 2: Brace Yourself
Dancing with the Dentists, Season 2: Brace Yourself, is a ballroom dancing competition that is held to raise money for local organizations who provide invaluable support to the underserved folks in our Maine communities.
As you might have guessed, the dance competition portion of the evening is modeled after the popular television show Dancing with the Stars. Each competitor will dance a short routine and receive a score from the panel of judges -- best score wins!
The evening's festivities will kickoff at 6:00pm with a social hour complete with spirits and hors d'oeuvres and an open dancefloor. Following with social hour will be a few short dancing demos to prepare you for the featured event of the evening, the dance competition!
This year's event will be raising money for two local organizations: The Root Cellar, and Dental Lifeline Network of Maine.
The Root Cellar has locations in Portland and in Lewiston and has been serving those communities for over 30 years. Recognizing the need for a place where teens could come as an alternative to the streets, and in some cases their homes. Christian volunteers provided a positive place where the area youth could drop in for food, games and friendship.
Dental Lifeline Network Maine provides access to comprehensive dental care for people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile and cannot afford help. Dentists treat patients in their offices, never pay lab costs and there is no paperwork for office staff. Program Coordinators screen patients, arrange for assistance from specialists and labs, and serve as the liaison between the dentist's staff and the patient.
Dancing with the Dentists, Season 1: Bonding together raised almost $30,000 for charity back in our first event ever in 2013! We hope to exceed our season 1 total this year on Saturday November 14, 2015. We also hope to have you join us for an unforgettable evening of dance, spirits, hors d'oeuvres, fun, and charity.
