FURY Factory 2011 Presents: inkBoat & Golden Thread
FURY FACTORY PRESENTS A WORK-IN-PROGRESS DOUBLE-FEATURE!
(all works-in-progress feature a talk-back after the show)

inkBoat - THE LINE BETWEEN

inkBoat presents a work in process showing of Line Between, an exploration through dance, music, visual design and text of the intersection between mind and body states with emphasis on hypnagogic stages of sleep and ancient shamanic rituals.  With direction from Dana Iova-Koga, Dohee Lee and Shinichi Iova-Koga co-create and perform this work along with installation artist Amy Rathbone, architect Frank Lee and lighting designer Allen Willner.  Music is created and peformed by Jason Ditzian and Suki O'Kane.

Founded by Shinichi Iova-Koga in 1998, inkBoat is a performance collective built by and with the collaborative efforts of choreographers, dancers, musicians, visual artists, directors and actors. Working in fractured, filmic, delicate and decayed environments, inkBoat's performances evoke both the traditional and the experimental, drawing heavily from movements (political, artistic, personal) of challenge. Each performance is a dialogue between the apparent and hidden worlds.

All collaborators are independent visionaries that assemble according to project parameters. Living in San Francisco, Berlin, New York, Tokyo and Seattle, these artists contribute to projects as called upon.  Whether site-specific or in a theater, the surrounding environment plays a key role.

GOLDEN THREAD - THE WEEPING WILLOW

A soldier dies an insignificant death. The horses gallop and rage. And little kids continue to play war under their mother's watchful eye. Led by Turkish-American artist Evren Odcikin, a physical ensemble of three dives into one of (in)famous Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet's most poignant pieces to create a world where war is never a heroic act.
