Early Music Voices: Putting the Devil to Flight (Il Furioso)
Pre-concert talk at 2:30pm.
Victor Coelho & David Dolata, lutes Neil Cockburn, organ Robert Crowe, male soprano
Martin Luther loved music, saying that among its charms was that it "put the Devil to flight." This concert will feature sacred solo music of the 17th and 18th centuries including the previously unrecorded, bravura "Amen, Allelujas" composed by G. F. Handel for the daughters of George II. Male soprano, Robert Crowe joins Il Furioso in a recreation of a lively, private Sunday afternoon of music-making for the Protestant upper class.
"...Dolata and Coelho are sure-figured and refined lutenists." International Record Review
"Crowe is a secure, powerful male soprano--still a rare listening experience..." Fankfurter Rundshau, 2014
