Peck's Book/Plate Featuring Annie Liontas, author of "Let Me Explain You"
Book/Plate, a literary/culinary series in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore and Peck's Homemade, pairs new books with complementary cuisine for an incomparable dinner with the author.
For July, Book/Plate welcomes Annie Liontas, whose debut novel Let Me Explain You was named by independent booksellers as one of the top debuts of the fall. The novel tells the story of Stavros Stavros Mavrakis, Greek immigrant and proud owner of the Gala Diner, who, having had a premonition that he has just 10 days to live, begins to instruct his three grown daughters (including the eldest, a talented chef) about all that is wrong with their lives, only to be forced to confront his own foibles. Steeped in the traditions of the Greek American experience but also a universal story of parents and children, this engaging and hilarious novel explores how families come together over food, and the unique ways they enrage, frustrate, care for and love each other.
Peck's offers a dinner that reimagines some of the classics of the Greek diner menu from moussaka to baklava, and Liontas brings her energy, humor, and charm to the communal table.
