Event

Resilience at the Crossroads of Race and Climate Justice
July 5th 3-6pm
Daybreak Star

It is the 10 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, we've since seen numerous harmful and unjust results occur when government doesn't resource or support climate vulnerable communities, especially working class black and brown communities. We've also seen frontline communities rise up and come up with the solutions needed to weather the storm. Utilizing art, stories, and dance, we will begin to dissect the many ways people of color can begin to heal from the trauma when facing environmental racism and continue to build resiliency.

Featuring:
Jacqueline Patterson, NAACP National Director of Environmental and Climate Justice
Cordillera Human Rights Alliance
Pinay Choir of Gabriela Seattle
Visual and Performance Artists

Organized by Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas, Got Green?, Race and Climate Justice, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation

Sponsors Whidbey Institute, NAACP, Bayan PNW

This is a Free Event, however we will be asking for donations to go towards the Local NAACP change for their climate justice work. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds
