The Heavy Pets http://www.theheavypets.com/
The Heavy Pets are an American Rock&Roll Band. Called âa living, breathing, force of natureâ by Dan Sweeny of Relix magazine, the Pets are known for sticky tunes and powerhouse performances spiked with hot electric licks and multi-climactic instrumental solos.
In 2007, the group became an instant Sirius radio sensation with the release of their acclaimed double-disc debut album, Whale, driven by hit tracks âOperation of Flightâ and âSleep.â The popularity of these tunes catapulted the Pets to major festivals nationwide, from High Sierra Festival to Bonnaroo, from Gathering of the Vibes to Langerado. With five skilled musicians who are also composers and lyricists, The Heavy Pets have amassed a deep catalog of original music that critics call, âfull blown musical salvationâ; âelegant songwriting with blazing chops, thought-provoking lyrics and a heavy, danceable backbeatâ; âfunk-reggae rock hybrid thatâs laid back and sexyâ; and âfunky, loose-limbed rock and soul.â
They were first embraced in the jam scene for their raw talent and tenacious commitment to making great music. But like their unmistakable sound, The Heavy Pets themselves have transcended boundaries, crossing a bridge few bands survive intact â" into the still-respected periphery of pop music through upbeat, danceable, homegrown, skillfully executed tunes, and passionate live shows that keep crowds lining up for more.
Aquaphonics http://aquaphonicsband.com/
Aquaphonics is a unique and exciting Funk, Jam-tronica, and Indie Electro-Pop band that is quickly gaining steam and high reviews in their native South Florida. Derived from friends and jam sessions, Aquaphonics has boasted several different members, and has worn several different skins, yet to this day retains its original, liquid, "Aquaphonics Sound." It also is still comprised of the founding members, Jessiah Weston (drums) and Alan Martinke, (Keys) who have been melding their music since 2000.
That sound changed and Aquaphonics re-emerged on the public scene in November 2008 after addition of unique and dynamic guitarist Steve Elmore. In late July 2009, the band announced the addition of a fourth member, Jim Dinsmore on bass guitar. Aquaphonics is ready to soar to new heights with their all new jazz-electro-soul inspired song writing, and they are well on their way.
They have recently been spotted at a Phish after-party and sharing the stage with Perpetual Groove, including a cameo with Brock Butler and Adam Perry, coined "Perpetual Phonics," and were an exciting newcomer at the highly anticipated Bear Creek Music and Arts Festival. Beginning 2011, the band is scheduled to play with The New Mastersounds at the official Pre-Party for Jam Cruise, starting what should be an exciting year for this emerging South Florida talent.
