Brews and Bards
The final show of Emerald City Scene's 2010-2011 season, Brews & Bards is a world premiere collaboration featuring director Danielle Franich and writers Jacob Farley, Joe Mangialardi, Jesse Parce and Nathaniel Porter. Three local breweries, Redhook Brewery, Schooner Exact Brewing, and Three Skulls Ales have provided source material for three playwrights to draw from for inspiration. In this evening of theatre, we will celebrate local beer and local theatre by sampling a little of both. Directed by Danielle Franich and hosted by the enigmatic Jesse Parce, Brews & Bards will intoxicate with local artists and local brews. Relishing in the light spiciness of Three Skulls Ales' Blood Orange Wit, Joe Mangialardi crafts a memory play, sweet with hints of that bitter blood orange. Nathaniel Porter takes on Schooner Exact Brewing's 3-Grid IPA, and pours a bitter comedy with high laughs-per-volume and just a hint of tragedy. And Redhook Brewery's ESB is re-imagined by Jacob Farley as an age-old monster, using its dark boldness to put sailors to rest on a desert land the color of caramel. To top it off, Brews & Bards runs concurrently with Seattle Beer Week!
