FURY Factory 2011 Presents: Hand2Mouth - Everyone Who Looks Like You
Everyone Who Looks Like You weaves a hallucinatory quilt of family experience that is intensely personal yet strikingly universal. Awkward confessions and eruptions of song and dance, fragile reconciliations and breakfast in your underwear, live video and an original pulsating score. Drawn from the personal histories of the Hand2Mouth ensemble, Everyone Who Looks Like You is a family drama exploded for the 21st century. Described by The Seattle Times as having âthe kind of promise, fearlessness and energy that the American theater needs, and should encourage,â Hand2Mouth is a permanent ensemble of performers led by Artistic Director Jonathan Walters. Founded in 2000, the company has created over 18 original performances from its home in Portland, Oregon. Hand2Mouth has received multiple Portland âDrammyâ Awards, including two for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. Recent performances have been presented by La MaMa E.T.C. (New York, NY), Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, On the Boards (Seattle, WA), Bumbershoot Arts Festival (Seattle, WA), Ontological Hysteric Incubator (New York, NY), Myrna Loy Center (Helena, MT), furyFACTORY Festival (San Francisco, CA), and The Network of Ensemble Theaters (San Francisco, CA).
Hand2mouth performances are developed through intensive rehearsals; each show demands its own creation process and training, which builds over months of exploration including long-form improvisation and rigorous research. From these raw seeds, the company hones fragments into a cohesive wholes, producing theatre that could not be created from the pages of a script.
