(((((April 6: Mark Weaver's UFO Ensemble)))))
Take a trip with the UFO Ensemble, an original music project brought to you by Albuquerque tuba player and composer, Mark Weaver. This acoustic quartet roams in interstellar regions, challenging the boundaries of category, yet the blended brass music they produce is freshly tuneful and often swinging. Tonight, UFO Ensemble's second set will feature Mark's "tone poem" entitled LIGEIA, an original suite of compositions inspired by an Edgar Allan Poe story of that name, which are performed along with projected still images choreographed by his son Mark Jackson-Weaver, (LIGEIA debuted at the Outpost Performance Space in April 2010). The UFO Ensemble features Bill Clark on flugelhorn and trumpet, Christian Pincock on trombone and valve trombone, and Carlin Venaglia on drums, along with Mark on tuba.
