Bronx Concert Singers: BCS Goes To The Movies
Join The Bronx Concert Singers (BCS) and music director Robert René Galván on Sunday, May 15, at 4:30 pm for their "30th Annual Spring Concert: BCS Goes to the Movies." The program features music from some of the most memorable moments in film performed by the BCS chorus, with professional soloists and chamber ensemble.
"BCS Goes to the Movies" includes compositions from both modern-day film composers and great composers of the past and features a variety of musical styles ranging from the heart wrenching "Donde Lieta" from the opera La Boheme, featured in the film Moon Struck, to the dark and powerful "O Fortuna" from the stage work Carmina Burana, featured in the film Excaliber. Also to be performed are Harold Arlen's "Over the Raninbow", Handel's Coronation Anthem from "Zadok the Priest," Verde's "Libiamo" from "La Traviata" and additional works.
The Bronx Concert Singers' "30th Annual Spring Concert" is made possible with public funds from the Bronx Council on the Arts through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program and through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Greater New York Arts Development Fund Regrants Program, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and the Bronx Delegation of the City Council, and the support of local businesses, organizations and individuals who appreciate the arts.
