Join us for our new series of exclusive events taking place in the heart and soul of our institution: The Morbid Anatomy Library. Loosely inspired by the Dilettanti Society, a society of 18th century aristocrats and scholars eager to share their love for art and knowledge around a good drink, The Morbid Anatomy Museum is proud to open the doors of its permanent collection for a few late afternoon libations and the celebration of all things arcane and spectacular.
Tonight, Evan Michelson-scholar in residence and co-star of TV's Oddites--will bring and elucidate upon her collection of opiates and opium derivatives from the turn of the 20th century: bottles of laudanum, morphine, heroin and various other pain-killing concoctions. She will reveal their surprising history, and explain the ways in which they helped shape the cultural landscape of the 19th century.
There will also be special music and other entertainments.
