A Summer Celebration & Fundraiser for the MWPA's Fortieth Anniversary
When: Saturday, July 25 from 2 PM to 5 PM
Where: Richard and Kristina Ford's home in East Boothbay
Roll up your Nantucket Reds, dig out your boat shoes, and mosey over to Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Ford's lobsterman's cape in East Boothbay: the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance is celebrating forty years!
Or will it be jeans and sandals? Seersucker? Wear whatever you're comfortable in for an afternoon beside the sparkling Linekin Bay because it's bound to be a day of straight talk and a summertime cocktail or two. Hang out on a dock or strip of beach, or hunker down with some friends along an old stonewall and talk about Maine's great writers and literary heritage.
This summer celebration and fundraiser party marks the kick-off to several more MWPA Fortieth Anniversary parties at various locations in Maine, many of which will be open and free to members.

Between our current list of confirmed hosts and guest authors, we have an incredibly illustrious group of authors attending this summer bash, including: three Pulitzer Prize winners, two PEN/Faulkner Award winners, two PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story winners, a PEN/New England winner, a two-time Newbery Medal winner, a National Book Critics Circle Award winner, a Kirkus Prize for Fiction winner, a New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award winner, and a MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship winner!
