YOUNG BENJAMIN BANNEKER - by Juan Villegas - THESPIS THEATER FESTIVAL 2015
Benjamin Banneker, "the first African American man of Science", achieved notoriety as an astronomer and mathematician, who constructed a wooden clock, published reputable Almanacs, and assisted in surveying Washington D.C. The play highlights two days in the life of 13 year old Benjamin who, although born free in 1731, must always be wary, even when honesty compels him to act.
