Angela Davis and Tim Wise in Conversation
SpeakOut and City Lights Publishers present an evening with two of the country's leading figures on race and contemporary politics.
Through her activism and her scholarship over the last decades, Angela Davis has been deeply involved in our nation's quest for social justice. Her work as an educator both at the university level and in the larger public sphere has always emphasized the importance of building communities of struggle for economic, racial, and gender equality. She is the author of eight books including a new critical edition of "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Written by Himself."
Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and educators in the United States. He lectures and writes widely about white privilege, racism and racial justice and is the author of five books including "Colorblind: The Rise of Post-Racial Politics and the Retreat from Racial Equity," "Between Barack and a Hard Place: Racism and White Denial in the Age of Obama," and "White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son."
