End of the LIne-OFS Environmental Film Festival
Dir.: Rupert Murray / 2009 / UK / 85 min / Digibeta At the rate we are presently using our ocean resources, many experts believe that by 2050 there will no longer be edible fish available thereĆ¢"bluntly, zero fish in the seas. This documentary takes a hard look at some of the results of overfishing and what it may hold for the future. Specific issues covered include the imminent extinction of bluefish tuna, in part a result of sushi catching on in the western hemisphere; the effects of an enormous overpopulation of jellyfish; and speculation on what the world would be like without fish. The film also brings to light some of the grotesque but standard practices of deep-sea fishing.
