The Lizard Lounge is thrilled to welcome back the fantastic Hayes Carll in the midst of a series of east coast shows which will land him at The Lizard not once but twice; July 9th and July 23rd. Tickets on sale here for July 9 only.
Hayes Carll is an odd mix. Wildly literate, utterly slackerly, impossibly romantic, absolutely a slave to the music, the 35-year old Texan is completely committed to the truth and unafraid to skewer pomposity, hypocrisy and small-minded thinking. In a world of shallow and shallower, where it's all groove and gloss, that might seem a hopeless proposition.
RONNIE FAUSS:
Baring the influence of John Prine and Steve Earle, Fauss' songs excel with a remarkable economy of words and poignant, catchy hooks. The sparse, pastoral duet with Lilly Hiatt on Gram Parsons' "Sin City," an homage to the legends of Fauss' sub-genre, is tempered by the uptempo, Neil Young-channeling "The Night Before the War." Whether wandering around broken-hearted ("I Don't See You") or at relative peace ("Pistols in the Air"), Fauss eschews the whisky-guzzling country bad boy façade in favor of the genuine article.

MORE ON HAYES CARLL...
More importantly than the critical acclaim is the way Carll connects with music lovers across genre lines. Playing rock clubs and honkytonks, Bonnaroo, Stones Fest, SXSW and NXNE, he and his band the Gulf Coast Orchestra merge a truculent singer/songwriter take that combines Ray Wylie Hubband's lean freewheeling squalor with Todd Snider's brazen Gen Y reality and a healthy dose of love amongst unhealthy people.
