Jess Baggia's catchy song "Hope" stood out on Women of Substance radio's rotation as one of 2010's most requested songs, and if this special evening of music at the Lizard Lounge is any indication, the lineup surely highlights three women of substance:
The Jess Baggia Band headlines, fronted by the sensual and dynamic vocals of Baggia and backed by the rock-driven rhythm section of Steve Breman on bass and Chris Harris on drums, along with the impressive Ken Budka on lead guitar. Expect to hear a diverse collection of original music ranging in influence from roots and Americana, to crafty pop, as well as a couple creatively arranged and re-imagined covers.
The Cilla Bonnie Band opens. Cilla Bonnie Arsenault comes from a jazz background and leads the talented band of Chris Desanty on drums, Noah Maltsberger on guitar, and a tentative surprise guest! Cilla Bonnie's performances are undeniably engaging due to her sometimes eerie, sometimes upbeat, and always gorgeous crisp vocals supported by the mesmerizing groove of her electric bass.
Gina Alibrio ends the night with a literal bang: her dynamic piano playing and searing soul vocals are enchanting. Backed by Nick Phaneuf, Jim Rudolph and Joey Pierog, Alibrio returns to the Lizard Lounge following the sold out CD release show of her EP, Anchors: an impressive debut of phenomenal songwriting.
