Stories and Lullabies
Held at the legendary and secretive Odd Fellows Lodge, Dark Dark Dark's performance is bookended by Laura Goldhamer & The Silvernail, Denver's freak folk audio visualist, and Flood Tide Remixed, a screening of the feature length film created from SWOON's Swimming Cities project, of which the band were an integral part. Flood Tide Remixed presents various parts of the film, remixed, and accompanied by a live score from Dark Dark Dark. Exploring storytelling through film and music performance, this showcase seeks to evoke discovery, bewilderment, joy and contemplation.

@ Odd Fellows Lodge 1543 Pearl St. Boulder CO Show: 7:00PM Tickets: $15 (or included with Festival Pass)
DARK DARK DARK began in 2006 as a collaboration between Minneapolis based musicians Nona Marie Invie and Marshall LaCount. These two songwriters bring together disparate influences including minimalism, New Orleans jazz, Americana, Eastern European folk, and pop. Using stark contrast in texture, tone and imagery, the band has expanded and redefined their sound for their new album, Wild Go. In their current tour the band is expanded to five people: Invie and LaCount as well as Todd Chandler, Jonathan Kaiser, and Mark Trecka.
LAURA GOLDHAMER & THE SILVER NAIL draws from a variety of purely American traditions; however, Laura's ability to merge traditional Americana with the avant garde is what has earned her numerous accolades, including Westword magazine's 2010 Mastermind Award, given to her for being a "cultural visionary" in the Denver arts community. But, it isn't music alone that has earned Laura the distinction of being a mastermind. During Silvernail performances, she projects her intricately composed stop-animation films (which she has made to illustrate her song lyrics) behind the band to sync with the music. It is Laura Goldhamer's ability to connect people, organize, and work creatively and tirelessly that has made her a vibrant fixture in the arts of the Mile High City, and beyond.
FLOOD TIDE: REMIXED, a 50-minute remix of footage from Flood Tide featuring footage of the river and the rafts not used in the feature film will screen at a handful of select locations with a live musical score composed and performed by Dark Dark Dark.
Flood Tide is a road movie on a river. It tells the story of four musicians who create extraordinary boats out of ordinary junk and set out for open water, fueled by dreams, desperation and a sense of adventure. The film's quiet narrative unfolds through fragments of memories, songs, letters and diary entries. Characters played by non-actors from the bands Dark Dark Dark and Fall Harbor chase jobs, dig through the past, and eventually, float out of town in an attempt to escape a life that doesn't make sense. Flood Tide follows an unpredictable voyage down a strange and meandering river, a search for a new life along a polluted estuary that flows both ways, a work of fiction that uses the voyage as its centerpiece.
