The Celluloid Salesman
Wednesday, April 27 at 7:30pm In Person: Film Collector & Head A/V Geek Skip Elsheimer
America's number one A/V Geek, and longtime CAC favorite, Skip Elsheimer returns with rare advertising and sales films that will teach you how to become the perfect salesman! With the recent interest in the post-war Madison Ave advertising (a la AMC's Mad Men), the A/V Geeks are proud to present some of their favorite advertising and sales films. Some of the films, like Kodak's Movies Move People and Hamilton Beach's Comprehending Blending - realize the potential of motion pictures as a tireless yet effective sales tools and are stunning examples to behold. Others, like the newsreel-like press releases from Monsanto look informational and news-worthy on the surface but have a sales pitch buried within. And finally some films are curiosities leaving us to wonder how such a train wreck of a film could be made. Besides highlighting some of the films which are available on a newly released A/V Geeks DVD from Kino, master showman Skip Elsheimer will be screening some neverbefore- seen gems, including the baffling Half-Humanoid Presentation and more!
