Adler & Hearne and Steve Smith & Chris Sanders
Adler & Hearne
From the East Texas piney woods outside the rural hamlet of Winnsboro, songwriters Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne serve up fresh harvests of homegrown music mixed with seasoned tunes from their combined collections of original ballads and story songs. The two met in Nashville while on solo musical journeys. Years later their paths merged in Texas, where they formed the duo Adler & Hearne. In 2008, they returned to the city where they first met to record their debut studio recording "To the Heart." Since planting themselves in the "upper east side" of Texas, Adler & Hearne's music has grown deep roots in the sandy soil of their Spring Hollow Organic Song Farm. Their songs are a spirited blend of original, folk-jazz blues-grass. She (Adler) sings and plays rhythm guitar; Hearne sings and plays guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Their live sets range from crooning songs of love and longing, losing and finding to covering touchy subjects with unexpected musical overtones to camping it up with modern-day spirituals steeped in dry wit. Their formative years share roots in gospel and classical music--organic influences that no doubt inform the duo's singing and songwriting. But the subject matter of their songs knows no bounds, nor does their musical style.
Steve Smith & Chris Sanders
Stories abound where the prairie meets the hills modern/retro harmonies and groove in original and traditional Americana and Bluegrass music. Life-long musicians Steve Smith (vocals, mandolin, mandola, guitar) and Chris Sanders (vocals, guitar) have captured audiences with the depth of their songwriting and the power of their distinctive voices. Recent appearances include Pickin' in the Pines, Bighorn Mountain Festival, Swallow Hill in Denver, Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, Albuquerque Folkfest, Wildflower Concerts and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Steve and Chris are in demand as teachers and clinicians including Camp Bluegrass, Hill Country Acoustic Music Camp, California Coast Music Camp and Zoukfest. Their music grows from Steve's love of bluegrass rooted in his native Virginia and the beauty of choral singing ever-present in Chris' Minnesota childhood. Together, their north/south blend of Bluegrass and Americana provides a unique heartbeat and lilt. Their latest CD Signs Along the Road is receiving national and international airplay and is climbing the folk, roots and bluegrass charts.
