TE AMO JAZZ Music Series @ CONSERVATORY with The EMILIO SOLLA TANGO JAZZ TRIO
On the second Saturday of each month the Te Amo Jazz music concert series with TEATRO Sí celebrates the best of Jazz fusion performance that comes to us from various regions of South America. Outstanding professional artists present their talents to a New Jersey audience by demonstrating the spirit of young upcoming and established musicians. This month's concert brings to the wonderfully intimate Conservatory piano studio stage the innovative sounds of the Emilio Solla Tango Jazz Trio. Pianist and composer Emilio Solla was born was born in Mendoza, Argentina in 1962. In 1983 he started to compose and play his own music, a fusion of modern Argentine tango and folklore with jazz and other contemporary music styles. His first band, Apertura, was praised by Astor Piazzolla as one of the most interesting new sounds in the Buenos Aires scene. Nowadays, with six CDs as band leader for the prestigious Fresh Sound Records label and concerts all around Europe, Japan, and the US, he is considered one of the most outstanding and personal talents in this musical stream (generally referred to as "tango- jazz"). For almost two decades Argentine born bassist and producer Pablo Aslan has been a leading figure in the tango revival. His CD "Avantango" (Zoho Music) was selected as one of the Best Albums of the Year, Critics Choice 2004 by JAZZIZ magazine. His 2010 CD "Tango Grill" recorded in Buenos Aires, was nominated for both a Latin Grammy and a Grammy Award. His most recent CD is a collaboration with legendary Cuban saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera, titled "Tango Jazz: Live at Jazz @ Lincoln Center". He has produced a dozen recordings for the Soundbrush Records label, and performed and recorded with artist such as Shakira, Yo Yo Ma, Lalo Schifrin, Joe Lovano and the Philadelphia Orchestra Drummer Ziv Ravitz was born in Beer-Sheva, Israel to a family of musicians. Ziv moved to the US in the summer of 2000 to expand his musical experience and to grow as a Jazz composer. Since then he has been performing and recording with numerous ensembles in the Boston area, both as a freelancer and as an artist using his own compositions, which reflect his individual and unique sound. In the winter of 2003, Ziv has become an official recording artist of Huber Music Management and Recording label of Cologne, Germany. In June 2003 Ziv won the Zildjian Scholarship Award. Since then Ziv has toured extensively all across Europe with various groups such as TAQ, Minsarah, Sin, Nicolas Simon Group, Iasi Romanian Philharmonic Orchestra.
