Lila Nelson and Come Gather Round Us

Arcata, CA. Local favorite Lila Nelson returns to Humboldt County with Portland's music group Come Gather Round Us for the third installment of UpStage Live! with host Mike Dronkers at the Arcata Playhouse on Monday, April 4.
From innocent sweetness to twisted cleverness, Lila Nelson's songwriting skills, expert guitar and playful voice has caught the attention of Neil Young, Richie Havens and Loudon Wainwright III. Lila's charm, sharp wit and exceptional ability to connect with her audience make the effort to attend this event worth it, even before she has sung her first song. She represents the best of home-grown folk artists, singing about those things most common and dear to us all our families, loves, losses and our own human follies. Lila was named as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for "Hold It In Your Hand."
Joining Lila will be Come Gather Round Us from Portland, Oregon. The band's members, Catherine Feeny, Sebastian Rogers, Jon Neufeld and Mike Danner, provide the sweet vocals and articulate instrumentals, inducing a surprisingly intimate sound that is served to us quietly and deliciously. More avant-garde audio art than a concert, their music is a refreshingly deep, personal experience. Their lyrics "Time is short in this life" remind us that experiences such as this should not be missed.
KHUM's Mike Dronkers will interview each of these artists in what is the third of a series of Lynette Nutter's UpStage Live! Performances, allowing us a close-up and personal look into the genesis and evolution of these fine musicians and their music. UpStage Live! Is a multi-media platform show that reaches live audiences through KHUM's radio broadcast, live streaming video and the audience at the Arcata Playhouse.
