Facing Change, Documenting America (FCDA): Facing Change on the Lower East Side
Join us for a historical slideshow and lecture benefit exploring photography on the Lower East. A collective of critically acclaimed photographers and writers including Alan Chin, Brenda Ann Kenneally's, Andrew Lichtenstein and Anthony Suau will share their insights about past and present day photography on the Lower East Side. There will be a Q&A followed by an informal evening of cocktails.
Facing Change: Documenting America (FCDA) is a non-profit collective of critically acclaimed photographers and writers coming together to explore America and build a forum to chart our future. Inspired by historic projects such as the Farm Security Administration's Photography Project (FSA) and the Works Projects Administration's Federal Writers' Project (WPA) of the Depression era, they believe that the times we are living in today are no less important and critical to document.
Support FCDA and University Settlement's efforts to face and document the current experiences of low income neighborhood residents. With your help this important project will culminate in a public show and book.
Benefit Tickets prices are as follows:
$30 Entry and cocktails. $60 + Raffle ticket to win a print of a FCDA photograph. $120 + Admission to a 4-hour workshop at University Settlement's Houston Street Center, led by FCDA photographers on a date determined by participants
