Dark fairy tales and puppetry converge at lovesick Victor von Valentine's Cabaret for the broken-hearted, loosely inspired by the life and stories of Hans Christian Andersen.

This new performance work is a dream about a dreamer. Celebrated storyteller Victor von Valentine secretly morphs his tortured life story and failed love affairs into beautiful and tragic fictions, which he performs exquisitely with his handmade puppets. Accompanied by his whiskey-slinging side-kick Emma the duck, Victor crash lands into the final performance of his world tour. There's something off about Victor's performance tonight, and as he weaves his bittersweet tales with his intricate puppets, his stories change shape and the moods shift.

Ice maidens, mermaids, sequins, blood, glitter, red dancing shoes, and a bottomless sea of whiskey; a meditation on isolation, creativity, transformation, and why sometimes it seems we only write with broken hearts. This performance is the world premier.
