Toussaint Morrison: A Night of Slam Poetry (7-17)
If poetry was never meant to be battle tested, then Toussaint Morrison is an unlawful literary lush never to be trustedor, someone who actually likes being judged. After more than 15 years of slam poetry competition, a decade working as a paraprofessional and behavioral specialist in special ed. Classrooms, and several days fighting slumber while taking a creative writing class from Garrison Keillor, Morrison is finally ready to release his debut chapbook of slam poetry and short stories.
From having his life threatened by a four-year-old student wielding an adult pair of scissors, to talking down an imaginary friend from leaping off a building, to his admitted obsession with super villains, he will debut new poems, stories, and that same old brazen s***** grin on stage at the Bryant-Lake Bowl. In tandem with the release of his book, Toussaint Morrison will be unleashing more than 30 videos of his live and scripted performances of poems featured in "Best When Sung From The Gutter."
