Into the City!
The Shawl-Anderson Youth Ensemble is heading Into the City! for their first performance in San Francisco. The Youth Ensemble is a pre-professional training program for high school students at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley, California. The ensemble performs in various concerts and events throughout the year and trains in modern dance and ballet. In this concert the students will be performing in works by Bay Area choreographers Abigail Hosein (Artistic Director of ahdanco) and Troy Macklin as well as a student choreographed quartet.
We are thrilled to have Dance Mission's GRRRL Brigade sharing this evening of dance with us. The GRRRL Brigade is an intensive dance/leadership development program designed to provide high quality dance training, performance opportunities, and a sense of self-empowerment for San Francisco's girls ages 9 to 18. Students study Modern-Jazz, Afro-Cuban Modern, Hip Hop and Taiko (Japanese Drumming).
