Gilding believes humanity entered a period of great economic and social transformation in 2008the end of a world economy based on consumption and waste. Gilding, author of The Great Disruption, explores the challenges humanity faces over the next few decades (loss, suffering, and conflict as a kind of planetary overdraft is paid off) but says this time also will bring out compassion, innovation, resilience, and adaptability.
