CIMMFest 2011: Score: A Hockey Musical
Directed by Michael McGowan
The opening-night film of the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival is a sweet-natured musical about the toughest sport. A hockey prodigy with the skills of Patrick Kane and the pipes of Justin Bieber has trouble reconciling the values of his pacifist parents (including Olivia Newton-John as his mother!) with the violence of his chosen profession. When he attempts to fit in with the big boys, he risks alienating his loved ones. Featuring everyone's favorite former Blackhawk, Theo Fleury, as himself.
With: "Beat" (short musical film, New Zealand, directed by Virginia Pitts)
