CIMMFest 2011: Pleasant People
Directed by David Bonawits
"Adult Swim" editor Bonawits makes his feature debut with this low-key comedy about an awkward singer-songwriter (Jiyoung Lee) who's distracted from recording her new album by everyday problems like a car accident, health scares, creepy adoring fans, and semi-boyfriends who won't return mixtapes or commit to a relationship. Lee's odd yet endearing performance as a woman who's too nice to stop being a doormat is sure to earn her even more creepy adoring fans.
With: "When Skies Are Blue" (short fiction directed by Columbia College grad Tony Nawrocki) and "Seashells" by Face Time Police (music video directed by Corey Martinez)
